The beginnings of The Chronicle
Meeting
At a meeting of the Management Committee of Goring
Congregational Church on the 17th April
1944 the Secretary, Mr A J Rule raised the question as to the issue of a news
sheet on alternate months to Shelley Road’s [now
Emmanuel United Reformed
Church] “Outlook” magazine.
The meeting asked Mr Rule to undertake the work of
its preparation and publishing.
First CHRONICLE
The first copy of The CHRONICLE was issued during
the early summer months of 1944. 150 copies of that news sheet, "Elm Grove
Chronicle" were made costing 18/6 [92˝p], and it was decided not to make any
charge.
